Fly Fishing Lessons and Classes
Learning how to cast a fly rod can be very frustrating. Let one of our proffesional guides/teachers get you started on the right foot. Be it a guide trip or a class, we'll have casting in no time.

FLY FISHING 101-Spring 2011
Will Blanchard will be teaching a Fly Fishing 101 class. DNS education site on the banks of the Florida River.

This 2 1/2 hour class will offer students a taste of the fly fishing experience. The class will cover fly fishing equipment, casting, line management, reading water and entomology.

Details
20 spaces are available for the two classes. 10 spots for the first class will start Sunday morning at 10 am to 12:30 pm. The second class will start at 1:30 pm and run till 3 pm on the same day. The first class will be available to adults, the second will be kids and adults. Kids 9 and up are welcome to sign up with an adult.

The class will take place on the banks of the Florida River at the Durango Nature Studies.

Casting Lessons
If you are looking to get just a hint of what fly fishing is all about, consider a casting lesson. Animas Valley Anglers offers individual casting lessons and instruction. Lessons cover: line control, casting, basic knots and other entry level information.

This is a great way to get a feel for the sport and start you on the path of fly fishing. Casting lessons are also a good idea before you take one of our regional guide trips. However, our guide trips include casting instruction for first-timers and novice anglers.

Casting lessons can be booked year-round. During the busiest times of the guide season (March through October) casting lessons will be available based on guide and instructor availability. Evenings and mornings maybe the only available times. Call or e-mail us for more info. email
