Spring
is just about here
and the San Juan and Root
Pond are fishing great. Root Pond is a trophy trout lake
that we fish from drift boats. This eight acre private
pond holds monster trout. We are talking gulpers in the
2 to 7 pound range. And if you like dries, then this is
the place for you.
Increased flows on the San
Juan below Navajo Dam in New Mexico have begun with the
river flowing at 1000 cfs. Click here for flow
schedule. Remember, the Juan is still a great fishery
during high water.
Our upper San Juan trips have
started and it just depends on the weather and flows as
to when we can hit it. Early June will mark the start of
the Salmon Fly hatch and our action packed Rio Grande trips
around Creede, CO. Animas floats are also on tap for later
this spring and summer. |

Float
Trips on the Rio Grande near Creede
There will be a couple windows of fishable flows the next couple weeks before
it runs high and off-color with snow melt. Streamer fishing in April and May
can be great fun. Late June and July will start the dry fly season. Due
to all the snow in the mountains it is looking like late June, July and August
are going to be the months to float the Rio. Bookings are looking strong again
this year, so contact us with dates so we can get you on these great waters. Click

Casa
and Playa Blanca Fishing
Reports
Fishing
has been very good at both locations and guests
are getting plenty of shots at bonefish and permit.
So far this season a few lucky anglers have tallied
Grand Slams (bone, permit and tarpon all caught
on the same day). This trip is a must for the angler
and non angler alike. |

Early
spring fishing
has
been a blast. There has been some great fishing on the Animas,
Root Pond and the San Juan below Navajo Dam under bright and
sunny spring skies. However, blizzards, sleet, rain and wind
have also made spring angling a little interesting. Despite
the crazy weather, fishing has been very productive. There
are too many of you who braved the elements over the past few
weeks to thank individually, but you know who you are. Thanks
for making March and April a lot of fun. The nymph and dry
fly fishing was truly a blast on the Animas and Juan this past
winter and spring. The dry fly fishing at Root Pond has also
been a kick. Streamers for monster browns is next on the menu!
The
Newsletter takes off!
Thanks
for the feedback and praise on the March Newsletter. It has
sparked bookings and has been a great way to keep in contact
with you all of you. If you have friends that you think might
enjoy the updates, please drop us their email and we'll get
them on the list. As always, we will guard our email list
with our life and will not share it with anyone. Hopefully
these monthly snippets won't be too much of a distraction,
but should you find that we're clogging your in-box with
unwanted fishing blogs, type us a note at e-mail
message and we'll take you off the list.
Cheers,
Chris, Will, Rick, Ralph, Josh, Tim and Marc
