float and wade fly fishing

news and info-updated 12.22.04

San Juan River-NM

The legendary San Juan River, located about an hour south of Durango below Navajo Dam has been a fantastic fishery this season. With the San Juan flowing at 250 cfs the fish are most active in the deep tanks. Excellent hatches of midges and BWOs continue on the Juan.

Book a San Juan float or wade this winter and experience this incredible river.

Rio Grande River-CO

Dry fly fishing you would have to experience to believe. This fishery continues to not only impress our guests, but also us guides. Book now for incredible streamer fishing in March and April, or set aside a couple days for prime-time in early June. Give us a shout to get a feel for when the best times will be.

AvA offers float trips on the best sections of this Gold Medal fishery.

Animas River

The Animas fishes very well in the winter and the past couple weeks daytime temps have been in the upper 40s, helping to make the fish very active. Check out our Animas winter guide special.

If you plan to ski or board at DMR make sure to bring along your fly rod. AvA has exclusive private land and also guides on the Gold Medal section!

Wishing You All A Happy Holiday Season
All of us here at Animas Valley Anglers would like to wish you the best for the holidays and warm and safe New Year. As always we welcome you all to visit us here in the Southwest for a taste of the good life...trout on the fly, unmatched scenery, Colorado towns rich in history and a cold beer at the end of the day. What more could you want?

As many of you know we have expanded our diversity late last spring by picking up Durango Fly Goods Forest Service permits. We kicked it off with little more than 3 weeks on the Rio Grande near Creede Colorado. We then spent most of the summer floating the Animas, San Juan or exploring the numerous creeks flowing through the mountains that surround Durango. Thank you all for making it another great season. We are looking forward to 2005!

Tight lines,
The AvA crew; Will, Chris, Tim, Rick, and Ralph
