Animas Valley Anglers
is looking to fill one or two guide positions for the 2008 guide
season. We are looking for self motivated professionals with
guide experience to join the AvA team.
Applicants Must
Have the Following Qualifications
- Certified
to float in Colorado on class I through III waters. If applicant
is not from Colorado, they must have guide and personal
float trips documented and logged. A letter confirming experience
from previous employer or outfitter would need to be available
and included with
the guides river log. Colorado State Parks Outfitter
Licensing Program requires a minimum number of hours and
miles to be a certified guide. These minimum requirements must
meet or exceed what is required.
- Guides
must have current first aid and CPR certification. Documents
must be on file with AvA as well as the agencies that issue
permits to AvA.
- Guides
would need to own or have access to a drift boat or
skiff as well as a raft. Rafts must be 13 feet
or longer and rigged for fly fishing. Each boat is required
to be equipped with safety equipment,
type III life jackets (San Juan), type V (Colorado), spare
oars,
anchor system, bow line, bailing
device
and
first aide kit.
- Applicants
must have 3
or more years of fly fishing guide experience.
- Must
have a desire and passion to guide. Guides would need to be
willing to work with all types of people as
well
as kids.
- It
would benefit a guide who is applying to AvA to have a base
of clients to draw on. We can not guarantee guide trips
every
day.
AvA
is a small guide service made up of professionals who love the
guide lifestyle and living in the Southwest.
We have a hell of a lot of fun, so we expect any new guide to
be up for the same. If you are looking for a great guide gig,
then this is the place
for you. The guide positions would
start in May or June. AvA would want any newly hired guide to
be around before the main season started to learn our waters
