Guided wade or float fly fishing trips on the Animas and San Juan Quality Waters

Fly fish for trophy trout on the San Juan River Quality Waters in northern New Mexico and on the Animas River near Durango Colorado in southwest Colorado. Animas Valley Anglers offers year-round professionally guided float and wade fly fishing trips on all the great waters of the Southwest including the famous San Juan below Navajo Dam, Animas, Rio Grande, Dolores, upper San Juan, Pine, Florida, mountain creeks, private waters and regional lakes. Beginner to expert anglers welcome.

The Animas River offers good streamer fishing and when flows are clear, good nymphing and sporadic dry fly fishing. The Animas is a year-round fishery that flows from Silverton down-stream through Durango Colorado. AVA offers wade and float-fishing trips on over 70 miles on the Gold Medal section, private waters, head-waters and upper Animas via historic train.

The San Juan is fishing very well with midges and BWOs. Spring can be a fantastic time on the San Juan with consistent fishing and warm weather. All three sections are fishing well. Great time to float-fish or wade this bucket-list fishery. AVA offers year-round float and wade trips on all three sections of the San Juan located below Navajo Dam. FLOW NEWS

The Rio Grande is happening! There is currently an early window of floatable fishing flows with steady streamer and popper fishing! Spring can offer solid streamer and nymph fishing. AVA offers miles and miles of float fishing near Creede Colorado and down-stream through South Fork. The Rio is a must-fish for the dry fly fanatic.

Root Pond is SWEEEET! Big fish are on the bite. Streamer fishing has been lights-out! Few fish on dries as well. When other rivers are high and muddy Root Pond offers fantastic sight-fishing into crystal clear waters from the comfort of a drift boat. Beginners & veterans alike have discovered how much fun Root Pond is.

The upper San Juan near Pagosa Springs is muddy and on the rise due to low elevation snow melt. Shhhh...fishing has been pretty good. The Upper Juan has a strong trout population and stunning scenery. AVA guided float trips through Mesa Canyon are available when flows and conditions allow. To book this special fishery drop us a line.

The mountain streams are still up and flowing cold. Alpine creeks offer fly anglers endless opportunities to cast fluffy dries and beaded nymphs to pretty trout in our most scenic areas of the Southwest. AVA offers numerous high country fishing adventures for any ability level. Easy walks, moderate hikes or big adventures are available.

The Dolores is currently low as it flows out from McPhee Reservoir and fishing is OK. Some early insect hatches as made a few fish look up! This wild canyon is full of deer, bears, rattlesnakes, mountain lions, tall pines and a small handful of technical trout. This stream will test the skills of the most ardent angler. Upper Dolores River is flowing high and muddy.
