Guided float or wade fly fishing trips for trophy trout on the San Juan River Quality Waters in northern New Mexico and on the Animas River near Durango Colorado in southwest Colorado. Animas Valley Anglers offers year-round professionally guided fly fishing trips on all the great waters of the Southwest. This includes the famous San Juan below Navajo Dam, Animas, Rio Grande, Dolores, upper San Juan, Pine, Piedra, Florida, mountain creeks, private waters and regional lakes. Beginner to expert anglers welcome.
The Animas River is clear and low, making for great early winter fishing around Durango Colorado. The Animas is a year-round fishery that flows from Silverton down-stream through Durango. The San Juan offers the best winter fishing in the west! The Juan is fishing well with midges, eggs, annelids BWO's! Current flow is 350 CFS. Great time to float-fish or wade this bucket-list fishery. AVA offers year-round float and wade trips on all three sections of the San Juan located below Navajo Dam. Click for more info!
 

The Rio Grande is fishing OK with streamers and nymphs. By the first of the year it will be iced and snowed-over in most spots. AVA offers miles and miles of float fishing near Creede and down-stream through South Fork Colorado. The Rio is a must fish for the dry-fly fanatic. The Pine River is low and cold. Flows are 60 CFS and is fishing OK with streamers and nymph rigs. The Pine offers a solid chance at a trout over 10-pounds! Yep, 10-plus pounds! The upper San Juan near Pagosa Springs is low and cold. The Upper Juan has a strong trout population and stunning scenery. AVA guided float trips through Mesa Canyon when flows and conditions allow. Season is late March into July. To book this special fishery drop us a line.

 

The mountain streams are cold and snowed. We look to be in the high country in the spring. Alpine creeks offer fly anglers endless opportunities to cast fluffy dries and beaded nymphs to pretty trout in our most scenic areas of the Southwest. AVA offers numerous high country fishing adventures for all ability level. Easy walks, moderate hikes or big adventures are available.

 

The Dolores is currently low with marginal fishing success. This wild canyon is full of deer, bears, rattlesnakes, mountain lions, tall pines and a small handful of technical trout. This stream will test the skills of the most ardent angler. The upper Dolores River is flowing low and clear with good fishing.
